Exclusive Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that as many as 9,000 Blackwater personnel were present in Islamabad, adding that the strength of capital police is 7,000. While talking to a private TV channel in Lakki Marwat, Fazal said that destability facing the country was caused by weakening of the democratic government. He prayed that those elements should take over the government who were against abuse of power. He deplored that Blackwater has unleashed Taliban-like reign of terror in Pakistan.
NWFP Senior Minister Bashir Bilour admitted on Saturday that the US private security company Blackwater is present in Pakistan and is operating in the NWFP as well as other areas. Bilour said that Blackwater was engaged in guarding US consulate staff and foreign NGO workers. He said that Pakistan was in a state of war and needed all the help it could get.
